Preventive Medicine
The purpose of preventive medicine and patient education; to inform patients about varicose disease in detail, to explain the factors that cause this disease, to explain what needs to be done after this stage and to eliminate the risk factors that will accelerate the course. To teach our patients to live with varicose disease. I would like to remind you again, preventive measures will not cure your existing varicose veins.
In the formation of varicose veins and in the course of the treatment, some of our movements and lifestyles, which seem to be insignificant in our daily life, are very important. For this reason, there are some issues that we should pay attention to in order to prevent the course of treatment and the progression of the disease.
We can summarize them as follows:
- Sport; Walking and swimming sports are recommended. Heavy exercise should definitely be avoided, our walking speed should not exceed 3-4 km. Jumping sports (such as volleyball, basketball) and sports such as lifting weights that can increase intra-abdominal pressure should be avoided.
- Do not sit, stay still, or stand still for more than an hour.
- You can shower with cold water on the legs, provided that it is from bottom to top.
- Prefer loose clothing.
- High-heeled shoes will increase your complaints
- Applying mechanical support can relax your legs. ( elevating your feet or wearing compression stockings.)
- Quit smoking.
- Herbal foods can be consumed.
- Lose weight.
- Hormone-containing drugs that you use, especially birth control pills, may increase your complaints and cause your disease to progress.
- Your complaints will increase in warm. So avoid spa, sand bath etc.
